Residents Escape As Flames Fully Engulf Nassau County Home

A house fire nearly spread to a neighboring home on Long Island as firefighters worked quickly to douse a fast-moving blaze.

First responders in Nassau County responded in North Bellmore to a Little Neck Avenue residence at approximately 12:41 p.m. on Tuesday, July 6, where there was a report of a fire that broke out, with flames visible shooting through the roof of the residence.

Upon arrival, police said that the house was engulfed in flames, with all occupants of the home already evacuated from the residence.

The North Merrick and Merrick Fire Departments responded to the scene, with a total of approximately 33 firefighters working to knock down the flames, though a neighboring home suffered minor damage due to the fire. 

No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, though it is not being considered suspicious. Fire Marshals were at the scene to investigate.
